Welcome to the CORE online program!
The purpose of CORE (Conservation Outdoor Recreation Education) is to provide students with a basic understanding of knowledge and skill for their safe and ethical participation in outdoor recreation.
The CORE program is useful for anyone interested in outdoor recreation and wildlife. CORE should be viewed as the foundation for any outdoor recreational user. The program is not intended to provide the student with all the skills they will require in the outdoors. You are encouraged after completing the CORE program to take additional training. Additional self-study, practice and training will help improve your knowledge and skills so that you are more prepared to venture into the outdoors.
The CORE program is an outdoor education course that is mandatory training for new hunters in British Columbia. In B.C., hunter education became mandatory in 1974.
The CORE program is a successful safety education program. Over the past 40 years of CORE in B.C. accident rates have steadily declined as hunters and other outdoor recreational users have become more knowledgeable and skilled.
